Two services, two different jobs
Think about your first hour after landing. You may need to find a train platform, message someone or open a booking. An eSIM provides the mobile connection those apps use. Later, you might join hotel Wi-Fi. A VPN works over an existing internet connection and adds a tunnel between your device and the VPN service.
Stellar VPN is a separate app. Your eSIM can work without the VPN being connected, and a VPN cannot supply mobile data when your allowance is empty. Treat connection setup and VPN setup as two items on your travel checklist.

Choose the data plan first
Start in Stellar eSIM with your destination, travel dates and likely data needs. For a multi-country itinerary, open the supported-country list rather than assuming a regional name covers every stop. Compare the total allowance and validity together: more data is not useful if the plan expires halfway through your trip.
Check that your exact phone model supports eSIM and is unlocked. App installation alone does not confirm eSIM compatibility. If you expect to share data with a laptop, check the selected plan’s hotspot conditions too.
Get both apps ready before departure
- Buy your selected plan in Stellar eSIM and keep the order details available.
- Follow that plan’s installation instructions on a reliable connection. Check its activation trigger before enabling the line.
- Find the VPN account information provided after purchase and by email.
- Install Stellar VPN through the official download route and use the included access.
- When you want VPN protection, connect in Stellar VPN and verify its connected status.
Save the setup instructions somewhere accessible during transit. Keep activation codes and VPN account details private; they are not information to post in a public troubleshooting forum.
A simple routine during your trip
After arrival, select the travel eSIM for mobile data and follow its roaming instructions. Open a small web page to confirm the connection before you start a large download. Check remaining data in the Stellar eSIM app during the trip, especially after a day of video calls or hotspot use.
A VPN is one part of good account security. Continue using HTTPS, install device updates and pay attention to suspicious messages. It does not make a fraudulent booking page trustworthy or stop you from handing a password to the wrong person.
